YEAR OF THE GOAT & Tanith

Year of the Goat has to date released three albums, two EP’s and two 7” singles. During 2023 the work on their fourth album begun parallell with working on filling the Finnish upcoming movie ”Heavy Trip 2” with their particular brand of music.

The music of ”the Goats” has its roots in the darker rock scene of the sixties and seventies, filled with melodies, heartfelt vocals and layers of eerie guitars, vocal harmonies, organs and mellotrons.

The latest release has gotten quite some traction, in German rock magazines Rock Hard and Metal Hammer, for instance, it reached a #1 respectively #3 in the two magazines version of a ”soundcheck”. ”It pleases us a lot, since we have fond memories of playing the Rock Hard festival and winning a Metal Hammer Award”, the band said.

The band has played at several festivals like Wacken, Hellfest, Summer Breeze, Sweden Rock, Metaltown, Tons of Rock, Roadburn, Hammer of Doom, Jalometalli and many more.

Year of the Goat was formed back in 2006 and released their debut in the form of an EP, ”Lucem Ferre”, in 2011 to be followed up by the award winning ”Angels’ Necropolis” in 2012.

The follow up, ”The Unspeakable” came in 2015 and was preceded by an EP as well. It to got quite a lot of great press and was followed up by tours and festivals.

A single with two cover songs from Françoise Hardy was released in 2016 and followed by a tour in the winter of 2017. The A-side was suitably the wonderful tune ”Song of Winter” and the B-side, ”Strange Shadows”.

It took a few years, but finally the third album is out there, and a damn fine one it is. Great reviews and high ratings across the board.

Tanith

Not many bands keep the spirit of '70s hard rock and heavy metal as fiercely alive as Tanith. Formed in Brooklyn in 2017, the band wasted no time making an impression: their 2019 debut In Another Time earned cult status almost overnight and cemented them as one of the genre's most authentic modern torchbearers.

At the helm is vocalist/guitarist Russ Tippins, a founding member of British NWOBHM legends Satan since 1979 – a pedigree that gives Tanith instant credibility, with none of the nostalgia-act baggage that often comes with it. Alongside vocalist/bassist Cindy Maynard, drummer Keith Robinson, and guitarist Dino "Destroyer" Freienmuth, the band has weathered real adversity along the way: a pandemic that split the group across two continents, and an eleventh-hour lineup change on the eve of tracking their sophomore record, Voyage. If anything, these challenges only forged a tighter, more road-tested unit.

Across their discography, Tanith have stuck to their guns: a twin-guitar, dual-vocalist attack built on soaring melodies and airy, fantasy-driven storytelling – "more heavy rock than heavy metal," as Tippins puts it. They're also sonic purists through and through, recording to 24-track analog tape to capture a warmth and organic character that digital production just can't touch.

Now, backed by Metal Blade Records, the band is gearing up for their next chapter with the release of their highly anticipated third studio album on February 19, 2027. They'll hit the European road in support of the new record, bringing old-school songcraft and undeniable chemistry to the stage. Having already proven their drawing power at major European festivals and club shows, Tanith deliver a high-energy live show that wins over classic rock diehards and metalheads in equal measure.
